I am mostly self-taught, though I have taken lots of classes and workshops. As an undergraduate at Indiana University I would sneak into Karl Martz clay classes and quickly became a better potter than English Literature Major. I was a functional potter and had a studio on Vashon Island, WA for several years. I took workshops with Bob Sperry, Patti Warashina, and Betty Woodman. I was involved in building and firing an Anagama Kiln with Eric Nelson and Seward Park Art Studio. When I moved to New Mexico in 1999 I started to explore non-function low fire work. My works usually revolves around a theme, the recurring themes being memory and knowing. I like to work around a theme - usually from what I am reading and visualize it in clay.
